Clinical indications wins BUPA Communication Award.

Clinical indications wins BUPA Communication Award. The vice-chairman of the BUPA Foundation Dr Andrew Valance-Owen says: "We immediately recognised this as an innovative idea that would have a far-reaching impact on patients and carers. For instance many older people can be on ten different medications and it is easy for them or their carers to become confused about what each medicine is given for. Indication labelling spells it out for them. As well as helping patients understand what their medications are for, indication labelling also shows other health staff what condition a patient is taking a given medicine for, and may decrease the risk of the wrong drug being described."
